Dear Friend;
May I have a few minutes of your time to tell you about a man I getting to know, even though He's been around for a long time,
His persistent critics have not let up, still trying to punish Him. When He was only thirty three, He was labeled as a rebel, a troublemaker, a fanatic (talking as if He was God Almighty).
The religious leaders and the politicians of the establishment zeroed in on Him as the root of all the problems of their day.
For a few bucks one of His closest associates, in fact, the treasurer of His company set out to conspire with the authorities...
He was apprehended and while in jail was beaten beyond recognition, degraded and humiliated,
He was paraded naked through the streets of the city and the people cheered
and then at the trial the judge said he could fine no real fault in the guy but, nevertheless, the verdict came down guilty
and this young man who was looked upon by many as having the most successful medical practice of all times was sentenced to die on death row with harden criminals.
Most everyone has heard bits and pieces of this story...it has been written about by all the media and leading book writers, covered by all the news agencies.
At the execution on a public place in view of all there was a flashing of lights and sounds and a total blackout, making it one of the most "for real" spectacular events ever staged...it is the most award winning event to this day.
Now my situation is this,
I'm a close relative of this man, and He's ask me to continue in some of the "works" He was doing before His departure.
Now, remember, this Relative of mine had some trainees working with Him, but they all departed when the going got rough, besides they had families to support, house and car payments, kids in school and so forth and so on and the pay scale back then wasn't too good and traveling expenses were out of site,
some just went fishing and gave up because of no support anywhere, and today, many years later it seemed as if no one, except those who have been helped, cared about continuing in His compassionate work...
there are many lost, dying, hurting, helpless forgotten, forsaken, lonely destitute, hungry, naked, without hope, homeless, broken bodies, shattered dreams, lack of vision and no desire to see another tomorrow...
I believe with all my heart that what my Friend told me to do, if I'll do it, it will change the lives of many of these folks, many of whom you know, maybe even close family members.
To continue to do this "work" requires a lot of help from others, maybe you at one time in your life can relate to being in a stage in your life when had not someone come along and shared with you, you would probably not have made it.
This is all my Friend asked, He knew I would need help, He was experienced and He had to have help. Now some of the "works" I am trying to do are:
Publish this newsletter and preach the Gospel wherever I can, to provide with all that I have the necessities of life to those that are without....teach them the ways of the Lord and teach them to become fishermen so they can feed themselves and others.
